Almost blind, Amita* had to be led by the hand into our HCM clinic by two friends. At 87, she had not seen clearly in decades. Seated high in the Himalayan Mountains in a sensitive country in southern Asia, her village had no optometrists or health care. Because access to quality health care is non-existent in that area, many people traveled for days to see a doctor.
When Dave, an HCM team member, fitted Amita with a strong pair of glasses, her face lit up as the world immediately came into focus. She regained her vision and independence that day. But more importantly, she felt the love of Jesus in a real, tangible way.
The medical clinic was only the beginning of God’s work in this unreached people group.
The host missionary expressed gratitude for the opening to share the Gospel in this Tibetan Buddhist village. She recently wrote us with an update: “Following the medical camps, our team has been accepted in this community and we have been able to build on the foundation that the HCM teams laid.”
Discipleship continues and now there is a group of 15-20 men and women that meet together regularly to discuss stories about Jesus.
