HCM’s disaster response team in the Philippines has already treated 679 people affected by the flooding in Manila and surrounding areas.  Each day they move clinic to a different location, working with local pastors and missionaries to provide medical care.

This disaster team is in response of the flooding in the aftermath of Cyclone Ketsana.  Included in this team of four are HCM’s director, Dr. Deborah M. Highfill and International Ministries director Dr. JoAnn Butrin.  HCM already had a team in country, wrapping up a medical evangelism clinic.  Four people from that team stayed to join the disaster response team.

“We are busy and wouldn’t be able to see this number [of patients] without the four that stayed,” Highfill said.
